I don't want to buy a winter coat

to wear for 6 weeks, but dam it was cold this morning. My one pea coat I can get away with wearing (sort of) but others not so much. I just looked silly this morning walking into work.

Re: I don't want to buy a winter coat

  • I hear you! ( at least I would get to wear it longer if I do get one now...)
  • Loading the player...
  • I bought one last PG - best thing I did. I'm glad I have it now.?

The ones at ON aren't that pricey............

Do you have a friend that can lend you one??

  • Can you just get a really long scarf to cover the belly and maybe use the rubber band pants trick to close your coat?
  • I hear ya.  I'm so glad I only have 8 days left, and only 3 days of work.  My coats look really dumb on me right now, I can only button the two top buttons and the rest is just my belly hanging out everywhere.

    Not very flattering!

  • Me either.  I refuse to buy any more maternity clothes.  I've just been wearing one of DH's fleece jackets.
  • DH had a nice one I've been sporting around.  It doesn't fit perfectly, but nothing else does right now either.  I'm not gonna buy one.  I'm determined....
  • I have been wearing a fleece coat and determined it will do the job.  I figure if I really need something warmer I will hit up one of our local wholesale clubs and see if I can find a cheap mens coat.
  • None of my friends have kids yet so no borrowing and my belly is TOOO big for the rubber band trick, lol. The two sides of the coat don't even touch.

I wonder if ON has any in there store. Hmmmm

Same here.  There's no way I'm buying a jacket to wear for the next 5 weeks.

  • I went to a Motherhood outlet store last  night, and they had really nice wool winter coats on sale for $59.99.  I was tempted, but since I've been a walking furnace, and haven't even worn a windbreaker yet, I opted not to go for it.

    Here they are online
  • You will wear it longer than that...you will look about 5m pregnant after you deliver. Just a thought.
  • I bought a long sweater/coat type thing that only has 1 button.  It's pretty warm and it's non-maternity so I could possibly wear again if I wanted to.
  • Yeah I have a fleece & sweatshirt that I have been sporting to walk the dog, but I just can't wear that to work.

  • I refuse to buy one.  I wore my fleece and zipped it this past weekend.  I can just put on my regular coat.  Not sure if I can zip it, but it will be close.
  • I agree, though I'll be wearing one for longer. My mom gave me a parka she used to wear before she lost 75lbs. I swim in it, but at least it's warm and it'll protect me from all the wind we get hit with off Lake Erie.
  • i've been wearing my long puffy coat completely unzipped for the past week or so.  i'm wearing a scarf as well just to keep my neck warm.  and i feel so ridiculous for walking around like that.

True J. Never even thought about after. Oy! PG Brain in full effect!

  • Target has some cute ones too in store and online. I have one from my last pregnancy that will work thankfully and then I figure I will just give it to one of my friends
  • Oh yes, I KNOW! I have been wearing my husband's fleece under a shell of a ski jacket I bought back when I was fat - it is unattractive as hell but damnit I am through with maternity clothes!
  • I went to a second-hand shop and actually found some cute ones for dirt cheap! Try that first!
  • I was the same way. I just borrowed my husbands coats or pull over coats.  I didn't want to waste the money on something I would only wear for a short period.  I am sure you will find a way to make due with what you guys have.
  • I'm just wearing my regular winter coat and not buttoning it.  Its not really helping to fight the wind, but it works for the walk from the car to my office.  I really don't feel like buying a new coat either considering I only have about 3 weeks of work to go.
