For the past 10 days or so, LO has been very over tired for various reasons. She also fights one of her naps every day(usually the morning nap, but sometimes she'll have a late morning nap, then no afternoon nap) which is also adding to the over tiredness. I thought maybe she was transitioning to 1 nap (nooooooooo!) but according to HSHHC she could just be perpetually over-tired. So I am currently trying putting her to bed earlier at night in hopes that she catches up on her sleep and goes back to 2 naps/day.
Any help? She looks exhausted, she can barely keep her eyes open but I put her in her crib and she instantly cries, stands up and wants no part of napping. CIO doesn't work.... help!
Re: Fighting Naps - help!
In our experience it took a while for DS to transition to one nap, but we're finally there and I LOVE it. On the weekends I don't have to cut my morning errands with him short or wait until he wakes up to go out, etc. He wakes at 7, goes down around 1230/1 and sleeps until 300/330.
He was taking one nap at day care, but 2 at home. A short morning one and the afternoon was taking longer and longer for him to go down and we were never sure how long he'd sleep. We finally just decided around Christmas to be consistent with daycare and just do one. After about 2 days, he immediately adjusted and has been fine with it. It was like he didn't know what to expect - one nap or two? Short morning nap or long afternoon nap?

That sure sounds like she's transitioning to me. She may be over-tired because of it, so early bedtime is a good idea, though. Here's a site I found with a little more practical advice on the transition based on HSHHC:
