I've had sciatic problems before the pregnancy. But I am only 9 weeks and it's already bothering me way more than usual. I take one tylenol if it gets really bad, and also you may want to try a heating pad. Sometimes that works for me.

I had this during my last pregnancy and it started at 8 weeks and kept going through the entire pregnancy. What you can do at home is stretch as much as possible and sit when you need to! Especially since you're not too far along, you can do the stretch where you lay on your back and cross one leg over the other (both bent) and pull both legs toward your chest. This one helped me a TON. Also, DH was a major trooper and would rub the achy spot-try not to lay on that side if possible.
Once it got to the point where it was too painful/more consistent my doctor sent me to a PT to do guided stretches during third tri. After baby I would occasionally get the shooting pain but it's tapered off. Now that I'm pregnant again it's come back. So I plan to do the same things like last time. Though, I have noticed that it's a lot easier to deal with so far-but maybe it's because I'm too busy to pay much attention to it no matter how much it hurts.
I am barely pregnant (is there such a thing?). Anyway, this is how I found out I was pregnant. I was having sciatic pain since Thursday and I ignored it. I went to the ER on Saturday because the pain was unbearable. They gave me a shot, some meds and sent me on my way. The meds didn't help at all so I went to Patients First last night before they closed and they did a urine test and then a blood test. The doctor comes in and says, CONGRATULATIONS! You are pregnant!
My mouth nearly hit the floor. I was taken off the meds and told to rest, ice the area and alternate ice and heat so I am off work for the week...

Good luck!
