jillybean :)

OK I know this is random but a few weeks ago we were talking about cleaning our hardwood floors. You said that you have a shark mop but that it still leaves streaks on your floor. I have been dealing with the same problem so Ive been playing around with some solutions. I took a spray bottle and filled it up with warm water and then added a cap full of Murphy's oil soap. It is awesome. It smells really good, gets all the grime off the floor and leaves minimal streaks. I just wanted to share in case you were still having problems. Sorry random I know, I'll go back to lurking now lol

  • Thank you so much! Yes, we have still been trying out various things.  The swiffer solution leaves the floor clean looking, but with a sticky residue.  What do you use to apply your solution? Sponge mop?  Or do you put that down then run your steam mop over it?

No I still use my shark mop. I just spray over the area then go over with the shark. Ours floors get really dirty with 2 dogs and a toddler and i just felt like everything else just left a film on it. It never looked clean. This has been working really well :) I was using vinegar and water and the smell was awful but the Murphy's has a very nice clean sent to it!

Forgive me, I know I'm being very dense, but you use your shark steam mop to go over it with the steam on?

Haha, I'm sorry I'm not getting it but I'm sooooo tired

  • See, back in ye olde days when I still mopped, I used murphy's oil soap & it was awesome!!  I will have to try the spray bottle of it before sharking.  So, how much do you water it down?
  • Love this idea!  I'm sure you helped many of us with the same problem!  Can't wait to try it!  Thanks for posting!

I used and old windex bottle and filled up about half way and dumped a little oil soap in there. It was very exact lol :)
