3rd Trimester

Numb hands in in the AM

At some point in the night after about 2 A.M. the past two weeks my hands go numb.  I wakes me up and the only way to fix it is to get up and hang my hands by my side.  Generally I use this time for a much needed pee break, but it's so annoying.  It continues most of the morning until about noon-ish.  Putting on my makeup and blow drying my hair are nearly impossible without breaks every 3-5 minutes to hang my hands down to get circulation going.  Is this PG carpral tunnel or just my PG circulation pushed to the max? I only notice pain in one of my wrists and it's when I put pressure on it, but not when I type or do most wrist movements.  Either way its a major PITA.

  • I had this last PG. It was PG carpal tunnel. I slept with splints. It really helped. The only "cure" is delivery.

  • I had that in the 1st tri, doc said I could sleep in those hand brace things.  Wasn't worth it to me.

  • I have had this since 2nd tri and like other people said wearing the braces helps or even ace bandages...I never did and it actually got better in the 3rd tri for me.

  • I just got this a week ago.  My OB has me wear a brace on my right hand while sleeping, and it makes it better, but depending on what I do during the day, and my middle finger is always tingly now.  :(  it's just my right now, but both hands get numb and stiff during the night. Apparently it will get better once you've delivered...better, as I can't hold anything heavy right now!
