Re: whats up with all the cattiness?

  • Lurking here but sorry to blow your little bubble but this won't stop and no matter you say/post it won't do a thing. I have learnt you need to be a big girl on here and just ignore any post that you don't agree with and not make posts like this that is asking for issues...you may not intend for it to but they always do.

  • Just my $0.02: stick around for awhile and pay attention to who's being rude. 90% of the time it is the same girls. To someone here for the first time, it seems like it's rampant but no matter which board you are on there are probably 10-15 girls who are always on here and just like to be snarky consistently.

Take it or leave it but I think if you can ignore who you perceive to be rude, there is a lot be gained from the camaraderie of these boards.

    Welcome to The Bump!

     This.

I hate these post. Why would you write an entire post just to call "mean people" out. If you feel people are rude and mean...move on. If not, then toughen up and deal!

  • Thank you, OP. This post was eye-opening.

  • As a general rule, I feel first tri is the most supportive, it is the specific topic boards they really get mean. When I posted a similar comment on the boards, I got accused of "thin skin" but sometimes coming on here just to read helps. Don't forget all the great tools this site has too!

Or you can listen to what they have to say. Sometimes they actually know what they're talking about.

Most of the time it is not WHAT they are saying but HOW they say it.  These people I am talking about might think they are coming off clearly as charmingly snarky and sarcastic or maybe it is just their blunt personality but to new people, in particular, they just come off as a-holes.  So my point was, once you know who they are, you can pick and choose who you care to pay any attention to and ignore the ones that really get under your skin.

Nope, blunt and sarcastic does not always equal rude.  But sometimes it does. Pretty much just depends on who is reading.  Here is the definition of sarcasm:

    sar?casm

    noun
    1.
harsh or bitter derision or irony.
    2.
a sharply ironical taunt; sneering or cutting remark: a review full of sarcasms.

By that definition, it's hard to deny that sarcasm could not easily be perceived as rudeness, especially when you do not really know someone's personality.

Once a post devolves into definitions of words (that everyone is already aware of), it's probably time to just call it a day.

    Agreed.
