Pleasanton?

I know someone that is thinking of moving to an apartment in Pleasanton. Anyone can discuss the weather there, the people? the vibe? Is it nice? I am guessing it is typical bay area, a little of this and a little of that. Any areas to steer clear?

Thanks

Re: Pleasanton?

  • I wouldn't call it typical Bay Area.  It's a little bit of everything, with an adorable, walkable downtown (surrounded by 1940s bungalows and Victorians), like Los Gatos, but smaller.  Good school districts and lots of parks, if they have kids, and low crime.  It's pretty diverse, but most everyone is a college grad.  The last stat I saw was almost 90%.  Weather-wise, it's similar to the rest of the Tri-Valley - summer highs tend to be in the 90s, winters in the 40s-50s.  I can't think of an area to avoid, but I'd aim for something walkable to downtown.

  • I live in Livermore now but lived in an apartment in Pleasanton with my best friend for two years 2002-2004. Loved every second of it. We were one block away from the downtown area and two blocks from the fairgrounds, which is a fantastic location IMO. There is an area off Stanley Blvd (Vineyard) that is a bit rougher than most neighborhoods. In general though, your friend can't go wrong. It's a lovely town.
