Random bed time poll.....

So just wondering how things are in your LO's bedroom at night.  Every once in awhile there is an occasional time LO gets lost in his crib and whines when he can't find his seahorse to turn on or snuggle with for comfort We've tried night lights in the past without good results....usually he ends up waking up more at night or he cries more when we put him down for the night (maybe he's scared by shadows) so he doesn't have a night light.  The talk earlier this week about transitioning out of cribs and into bed had me wondering, I don't really want him wandering in a pitch black room. (but then maybe he'd stay in bed better, idk....still have quite a few months before having to worry about that)

Anyways just wondered what other's do in their kiddos rooms.

  • We have a little one that has a sensor on the front so it only turns on when the lights are off. Its just enough light so we can see him when we check on him. I think it was like $2 at WalMart. lol

  • Funny you post this because we just got a night light today!  We got him a Spoka from Ikea.  It's really cute and changes colors but in his tiny room, it just seemed way, way too bright.  So, we'll hold off for now.  I would have chosen "no light until the sun" but LO doesn't even get the sun, lol!  His room doesn't get any sunlight (no direct window) so it's very dark except for the tiny green light on his baby monitor.  He doesn't seem to mind though.

  • The streetlight glow through the window gives us, and him, just enough light.

Same here.  He's had it since he has been sleeping in his room so he is used to it.

We had this one, but when LO started having trouble sleeping at night we took it out and he did much better.  We also used to have a baby monitor that had a dull nightlight, but it started getting a lot of static so we replaced it.  Now the one that we have still glows but it turns off automatically (which kind-of sucks) after about 5 minutes.

This. Plus, I think Tony actually prefers it when the room is completely dark.

  • I voted SS... Our monitor has a soft night light! We also do have the twilight turtle- however it has a 40 min timer and then goes off. It doesn't last all night!

  • We still use the nightlight part of the angelcare monitor (actual monitor part is turned off though).  Griff knocked it down while playing one time and I was lazy to put it back up so those nights he didn't have a nightlight.  Boooy what a mistake.  He woke up crying a few times each night and it tool me a while to figure out what the problem was.

I voted for no light, but really the security light for our parking is right outside his window so we're like EMO-mamma.

This is what we were using until DS threw it down the steps and it stopped working.  So now we don't have anything in his room and it doesn't seem to be bothering him.

  • I've experimented w/ nightlights, dim lamp, angelcare monitor nightlight, no light, etc & I think DS sleeps best in the dark, so that's what we've been doing for several months now.

He isn't attached to a particular toy like the seahorse, so that hasn't been an issue for us.

I have a tap light in his room on a shelf & his music toy that's strapped to the crib has a tiny nightlight on it that I use when needed.

  • no light at all, and I just ordered custom black-out shades so hopefully the sun won't be waking him up soon ;)

  • We have a couple in his room. The windows all have the LED candles which are more for looks on the outside because his shades block most of their light, there is a traditional nightlight that plugs into the outlet by the changing table, and there is a projection nightlight plugged into an outlet that shows the planets and stars on his ceiling that turns on when it's dark.
  • I was torn between SS and something that glows; our monitor base has a night light. But if we have to go in there in the middle of the night, we usually grab our phones.
