Does anyone else have a fibroid in their uterus and also pregnant? I didn't deal with this with my first, but it's been mentioned it's a possibility in this pregnancy.
I have one with this pregnancy and never had one with either of my other two. My OB said she sees them in about 50% of her patients and that they are nothing to worry about. She is monitoring me with monthly ultrasounds to make sure that the placenta does not attach over the fibroid as this could result in low growth during the third tri and would have to be carefully monitored. But she said the risk of that happening is very slim. She also said my fibroid is small, and at my last ultrasound at 10 weeks, the placenta was no where near it.
I hope I didn't scare you, my OB stressed that it is pretty common and a lot of women have them.
My sister has one. She is about 20 weeks pregnant. It sometimes bothers her a little bit when she tries to sleep on the side its on but the doctor said it wasn't a big deal. Sometimes women get them in pregnancy because somehow those help produce progesterone, which we need in pregnancy.
My ob said the size of the fibroid and the location will determine whether it will affect you during pregnancy. When it took me a while to get pregnant with my first my ob ordered an ultrasound and found a large fibroid. She told me I had to have surgery to get it removed immediately because getting pregnant with it could cause serious problems. Apparently the fibroid can grow as the baby grows. I knew several people back when I was trying to conceive who were on bed rest because of their fibroids. I'm not trying to freak you out, I'm just letting you know that every situation is different and the best person to address your particular situation would be your ob.

I had two large one with my last pregancy. I ended up with a healthy bouncing baby boy at 8 lbs. 7 oz. They made me uncomfortable 2nd and 3rd tri but other than that, it went fine. DS was breech most likely b/c of fibroids so I had a c-section. Drink lots of water. It will prevent fibroids from cramping and being so uncomfortable. GL!!
