We are having a girl and I need a name that works both in spanish and english, as my hubby is guatemalan and I'm american. We will live in both countries, so its important the baby's name works in both languages. I was thinking isabella sophia originally until I found out how popular they both are in the states now...now I'm thinking daniella but have a totally open mind! Help us out please!
EDIT: don't have to be a spanish name, just something that isn't too difficult for spanish speakers!
Re: girl names that work in spanish AND english
My cousin's husband is Puerto Rican. Their daughters are Carolina and Carmen Luisa. I love Luisa! I don't know if it is actually Spanish though??
ETA: They pronounce Luisa like Louise with an a added to the end.
My Guatemalan students were:
Adriana, Regina, Isabel, Marcela, Luisa, Lourdes, Maria Rene, Paula, Nicol, Pilar (Pili), Valery, Sara, Mercedes, Miriam, Jimena, and Lia. I also knew girls there named Ana, Cecilia (Ceci), Alison, Cristina (Cristi), Andrea (although this one has different pronunciations), Rosario, Mildred (Mili), Marta. Maria Fernanda (MaFer) was also really popular at the school I worked at.

I know my name, Laura, translates well.
ETA: As does my DD's name, Isabel.
Emma - sounds great in both.
I like Lucia (Lucy), Laura, Carla, Sara, Ana, Julia, Natalia, Elena, Carmen, Sofia, Cristina, Daniela, Laia, Clara, Isabel, Lidia, Nora, Lola, and Susana.
All of those are the Spanish spelling but are still easy to pronounce by English speakers.
I personally LOVE Cecilia.
Also- Amelia, Carolina, and I have always had a thing for Carmen

My H's mother's family is all Mexican... good "crossover" names from his family include Carmen, Amelina, Nelda, Maria, Doris....
i agree with jfgreer!
my name is angelica and it's a nice crossover name. i get so many compliments on it. my dad is mexican and my mom is white, so it has worked well for me.
The top 10 baby names in Spain last year were:

This! My fav name to say in both Spanish and English is Mariela. I like to say "Mary-Ella" in English and "Madi-Ella" in Spanish. So pretty!!
