Baby Names

girl names that work in spanish AND english

We are having a girl and I need a name that works both in spanish and english, as my hubby is guatemalan and I'm american. We will live in both countries, so its important the baby's name works in both languages. I was thinking isabella sophia originally until I found out how popular they both are in the states now...now I'm thinking daniella but have a totally open mind! Help us out please! EDIT: don't have to be a spanish name, just something that isn't too difficult for spanish speakers!

  • My cousin's husband is Puerto Rican. Their daughters are Carolina and Carmen Luisa. I love Luisa! I don't know if it is actually Spanish though??

ETA: They pronounce Luisa like Louise with an a added to the end.

  • My Guatemalan students were:

Adriana, Regina, Isabel, Marcela, Luisa, Lourdes, Maria Rene, Paula, Nicol, Pilar (Pili), Valery, Sara, Mercedes, Miriam, Jimena, and Lia. I also knew girls there named Ana, Cecilia (Ceci), Alison, Cristina (Cristi), Andrea (although this one has different pronunciations), Rosario, Mildred (Mili), Marta. Maria Fernanda (MaFer) was also really popular at the school I worked at.
