We have a 22 week preemie in our NICU

So incredibly sad ?I've seen a few 23 week preemies survive in the 10+ yrs I have been working in a NICU environment, but never a 22 weeker. ?She is almost two weeks old now but the prognosis doesn't look good. ?Say an extra prayer for her and her family. ?So sad.

WOW!  Where I worked (of course it's been 3 years!)  they wouldn't resusc. a 22 weeker.  24 was our cut off except in extreme cases (say the mom had multiple losses and this was her farthest gestation, understands the outcomes etc) they'd maybe go to 23ish weeks.

My heart goes out to them!

How sad, I will pray for the family. I had my first positive FFN at 22 weeks and we were told they would not help a preemie under 24 weeks, and even then 24-28 weeks we would be looking at major complications and quality of life issues.

ugh- that is just too little. Isn't the youngest a baby has survived 22w? and that was a fluke, too.

my friend just lost her twins at 23w1d after they both lived almost a week... it's so devistating.

so sad! Many prayers to their family. ?I know someone who delivered twins at 21.5 wks and they didn't do any medical intervention. ?It was spontanous labor that sent her to L&D

that is really sad...prayers sent.  When my DS was in the NICU, they had the micro preemies in a different "room" and it was always sad to look in there..it was quiet, dark, blankets over isolettes. Here's hoping for a miracle for that little girl and her family!
