As a FTM, I didn't realize how many diapers we would be using .. add in twins, and wow!
now add in that both babies are in different sizes (which I didn't think about before the babies were born, but one is skinny and other is chunky monkey).
add to that the fact that we use day time diapers plus special night time ones.
add in that the babies grow and transition into different sizes at different times....
and we are on diaper overload at my house!!!
I order in bulk online and I currently have 5* huge boxes of diapers at my house plus another box of swim diapers! I am tripping over diapers!!!
*size 2 day time which daughter fits into now but will soon outgrow (in about 2 weeks or so). may be donating some of these as I don't think she will last through the box.
*size 3 day time which son has outgrown in literally just the last few days and we had a few leaks / blowouts this week already. Daughter will move into these.
*size 3 night time which daughter is now wearing even though a little big, but son outgrew already
* size 4 night time for son which he just moved into two weeks ago
* size 4 day time for son which I just bought this morning
One child is transitioning out of one size into the next bigger size, so luckily the bigger size diapers will not go to waste as the other twin is just going into them. But we have "lost" on some of the smaller diapers as child outgrew them. Ugh. We donate leftovers to Salvation Army, but still annonying to see diapers unused.
Yikes!
Re: Diapers, Diapers, Diapers Everywhere! (vent)
it gets easier when they are bigger... they don't change diaper size much after the first year.
I had 3 in diapers, in 3 sizes, for about a year. That was fun.
right now my twins are in 2 sizes. Gibby is semi-potty training, so he's in pullups now, not diapers. I always buy different brands for them so it's easier to know who's is whos... might be something for you to do if you aren't already.
don't buy such big bulk the first year - or you end up with unused diapers too small.... I was thankful it didn't happen that much - but when it did, I listed them on Freecycle so someone nearby who needed them could come pick them up, or gave to friends with younger kids. So many friends have given me diapers for the same reasons.
Had the fear of God put into me when I read in Baby Bargains that twin parents can expect to go through 1,200 diapers in the first six weeks.
