No climbing out of the crib for my kid

My mom was babysitting the other night so DH and I could go out. She put N to bed and a few minutes later he started crying out for her.  She went to see what was up.   He was pointing to the crib and said "Up up".   My mom had forgotten to put the side of the crib up and Nicholas told her to put it up.   Some kids would be like "Woo hoo I can climb out if I just put my leg over the side like this".   Not my kid.

Of course him never even attempting to climb out means that Ava will be climbing out by the time she's 14 months old.   I even saw her on the monitor peering over the side while sitting up (like she's contemplating how to escape at 9 1/2 months old). Boy I sure hope not.

oh terrific.  I can already tell that Ava is going to make me grey all over.

  • Is her crib lowered?  I would be lowering it NOW.

It was lowered one notch.  Yesterday I saw her peering over the side like she was thinking "Hmmm I wonder what's down there".   So I told DH we needed to lower it again.   Sheesh we didn't have to lower Nicholas til he was 15 months old.   Ava is a tad bit more curious.

  • I'd lower it as far down as it will go at this point - just to be safe!
    Wheee!
