Parenting after a Loss

Well damn

Guess I can't eat buffalo sauce anymore. Both times I've had it since I've been BFing, DD has been up all night. No more wings for me for at least 6 months :(

Is it just coincidence, or have you had to give up some favorite foods while nursing?

  • I tried so many eliminations, but I'm pretty sure DD isn't allergic to anything. I cut out dairy, eggs, soy, wheat, citrus, nuts, beef, chocolate, spicy food and caffeine. I was down to eating meat and veggies (which was really healthy and helped keep me from overeating!) and then slowly introduced one thing back at a time to gauge her reaction. I was off dairy for a full 2 months and everything else for about a month. I didn't see any difference, the only correlation I can see is that coffee gives her diaper rash, I think. Other than that I think all her colicky stuff and problems sleeping were just normal for her age. I'm glad, I hated the idea of going without those foods for so long! Hope your LO isn't really reacting to the wings, or if she is they're the only thing!

  • I have had to give up any beans or anything with cabbage.  DS is so miserable the next day with gas pains.  But beans and cabbage aren't a big deal!  I would hate to have to give up caffeine or something like that.

  • I had to give up kidney beans & broccoli.  They gave horrible gas pains.  I was so worried about him that I stayed up all night.

  • Dairy and soy, and I'm not sure it's doing anything since he's still a mess, but I'm afraid to try another test to find out.

  • Dairy and soy.... Because of mucous and blood specs in his stool. The blood specs haven't happened again in a while but he is still mucousy. I am not sure what I will have to cut out next. We have an appt with a GI specialist at children's on Wednesday. I miss my cheese but I honestly can't believe how much soy we all eat!
