LO's 1st B'day plans??

I know this is super early, but I love to plan events. I just finished planning my mom's 60th, and that was a huge hit! Now, I have moved on to planning LO's 1st b'day party by pinning all sorts of ideas on Pinterest.

Anyone else as crazy as me? Anyone have any themes or ideas already planned out?

Re: LO's 1st B'day plans??

  • I picked the theme even before Ty was born and I've been randomly planning the party for several months!  I just need to pick the date and where we'll have it (huge family and small house so we'll have it at my parents, ILs or DHs grandparents since they have a pool!) and I'm almost finished planning!

PS - the theme is Very Hungry Caterpillar.  Initially I planned it because I love the book, it was the first book I bought for him and the colors will provide fun decorations.  Plus, he's a hungry little boy!

  • I totally have her theme picked out and I have an entire board on Pinterest dedicated to her party.  I just thought to myself I should really sit down and write out her guest list to see what I'm getting myself into.

  • I have NO idea! We will probably do a cookout at our house with family maybe friends.... But as far as a theme I don't know? DD nursery is owl themed ....... Either way it will be simple but we may get one of those blow up water slides for the other kids and we can bring DD on our lap
  • LO loves Elmo so I am trying to decide if that should be the theme or to save that for later and not do a "theme". I am getting stressed because I want to plan but I am hoping to have the party in a new house since I can't fit more than a few people in my tiny house but my house is not selling.

Definitely not crazy! I haven't started planning per se, but I've started thinking about it. What's your pinterest? I need ideas!

  • I've started thinking about it, but not really actively "planning". Our party won't be very big anyway. Just the grandparents and probably my sister. We will probably just have a cookout and I'll have some decorations, but nothing over the top.
  • DH and I were talking about it the other day. My SIL is due June 6th (yay another June baby in the family) but poor Bell will probably be without her grandparents for her first birthday due to the new arrival.  Originally we wanted a Nemo/Sea theme with around 50 people but now we are thinking of tossing the idea and just going on vacation.  She can have a cupcake in Paris (or wherever) for her first birthday.  Hope that doesn?t make me a bad mom

  • I haven't decided on colors/theme.  I will most likely rent out the rec center at our local park.  It's right next to a pool.  It's more like a house, so it has a kitchen and everything.  Our house is just way too small, so I think this will be nice.
  • I have also started pinning things I like.  I like the idea of doing the Hungry Caterpillar theme, I found a cute cake idea with cupcakes.  I'm sure I'll change my mind 20 times between now and then.  I did find a onesie at Target last summer on clearance with a 1 on it, so I at least have her smash cake outfit picked out.  I'm not planning to go toally overboard and invite the world, probably just close family.  LO's birthday party is probably going to be Mother's Day weekend, which will also be my first Mother's Day.  LO shares a birthday with her great-grandma who will be turning 97 this year, so I'm not sure how that whole weekend will play out.  It's already stressing me out!

This, exactly. I am not huge into themes, so we will see if she is super into something by June.

DD1 (now 6) loved anything Baby Einstein so we did her cake like the Baby Einstein caterpillar, had a Baby Einstein Birthday banner and then just did primary colored balloons and paper products.

  • Our local park rents out their gazebo and I want to do it there.  There's a huge playground and field so the kids can just run around and play.  I think I'm just going to do bright colors (probably polka dots) no real theme.

This. No friends though. DH and I aren't really into bday parties. We never had them growing up. I think I had one bday party at the roller skating rink (Holla!!). I never felt cheated or different from other kids who had huge par-tays and I loved hanging out with just my mom, brother, and grandparents. So DD will have small, family parties for a few years. When she is older, we might start the party thing.

I already have an idea for bday celebrations with DD (or other kids) are older....Princess for a Day :-) DD gets to design an entire day of activities for us to do...she picks what we do, where we go, what we eat, etc. It sounds good in my head, not sure if its a good idea in reality or not :-P

  • I really want to start thinking about it but haven't let myself.  I'm REALLY hoping we're moved back to MI before DD's bday in May.  If not, then there probably won't even be a party since we're so far away :(  In an ideal world, we'd be moved back into a nice house and have everyone over for her bday!  I would love to plan something really cute.

  • Ya, nope! LOL!

I have done the huge 1st birthday with my 1st daughter (100 people - all family) and hated it! She was very over whelmed, as was I! For my 1st son, I was skipping it, but was pity-partied into it by my family. I HATED it (again, a BIG party!) and Liam was not happy. So this time, Aiden gets a SMALL, intimate party. No theme, just a few helium balloons,  a small cake and cupcake (for smash) and that will be it =) Even with my older kids and parties, THEY chose small parties with just our family over big friend parties until they were in grade 1.

We're doing this too, and already have some stuff picked out. I actually got some matching napkins today at Hobby Lobby and bought some decals for the walls at Target. Since she came early in April, I figure it's not too early to start planning...right? :)
