toddler meltdown - HELP!

So my DD is not feeling well, and we're recovering from a weekend traveling. She's exhausted.

I kept her home from daycare today, and she's been melting down all over the place today. I put her down for her nap, doing our normal routine.

She woke up 20 minutes in (DARN construction next door), and began to scream. I mean SCREAM scream. I went in, tried for 30 minutes to get her to calm down, read her stories, cuddled, sang. She's not hurting anywhere, she keeps telling me no every time I ask. She's just over the limit of exhaustion.

I put her back down for her nap... because she ABSOLUTELY needs it. But she's screaming and screaming and it's so frightening. Even when she was trying to calm herself down to anwer my questions, she'd end up screaming the answer to me, so of course it wouldn't make sense. She is throwing her little body around, even while in my arms. It's like she's posessed.

 Please tell me it's something a toddler does occasionally and other than being concerned baout her being sick, I shouldn't be worried. It's so upsetting, but it would make me feel a LOT better if I knew that other people get as scared as I am once in a while. She's never gotten this upset before (but she's never been this tired - it's been a rough 4 days).

I'm sorry!    It sounds exactly like Reagan when she's overtired. Reagan gets so upset that she actually pukes and poops.

 Try not to worry.  Will she sleep in the stroller or car?  When we get to this point, I will often toss Reagan in the car and drive aimlessly for a while so that she calms down and sleeps.  It's only happened twice, but its worked.

Hope she calms down soon!

DD has done this when she's completely exhausted.  I would second the car ride if you think she'll fall asleep there.  I hope she can get some rest tonight!
