1st doctors appointment...!!

in 1st Trimester

I have my first doctors appointment on the 27th... I am so nervous/scared! This is my first baby. Not sure what to expect...

Anything crazy? Do they take a lot of blood? :(

    They will take the biggest family history you've ever had to think up.  They ask you your LMP or ovulation date if you were charting.  Go over basics with you.  Mine gave me a bunch of papers (when classes were offered, the list of OK meds, etc) and the "What To Expect When You're Expecting" book.  I was sent down for blood work but I have a blood clotting disorder so I think that's not always the case.  Good luck!

    ahh I see. I just faint every time I get blood work done. haha. especially if it is a large amount..

    Oh man, I feel like I'm constantly being poked.  My first appt they took 11 vials of blood but it was because they were running a full panel genetic test for blood disorders to see if I had any other ones.  And every appt I go to they take more to check for other things.  So far nothing else has shown up!  I think the norm is only to get 1 vial taken for the HCG check if any.  Good luck!

    I think with my first they took a few vials of blood, but I don't think it was at my first appointment. My first appointment was just family history, heartbeat check, lots of information about what I can eat, not eat, do, not do, ect. 

    However, I switched OBs at that appointment, so I'm not sure how my current OB handles early pregnancy, and that is making me a little nervous! I feel like I'm in the dark again almost!

    You'll be fine!  Nobody hates blood extraction more than me!  I'm a wimp!  I always look away and hope they're experienced enough to get to my tiny, almost invisible veins!

    I went to the doc for my 1st appointment as well with my DH.
    It was done in 5 minutes was not a big deal though I have to go back for the blood test.  eeks....
