There's a new chlidrens consignment store near my house, but they keep 60% of the sale price. Is this fairly standard? Seems like a lot to me. I have been donating some clothes, but have some that could get decent money...

I sell to consignment shops or on Craigslist. You don't really get much at consignment shops, but it is better than nothing. And you don't have the hassle of taking pics, going to the post office, and paying listing fees like you would on ebay. Plus, you don't get much for even designer brands.
I really don't want to put in the effort of doing ebay (pics, listing, shipping, etc). I just want to unload the clothes and make a bit of cash in the process...doesn't have to be top dollar. I'm just curious if 60% is pretty average.

It's on Bellaire Blvd. near Bissonnet, in the shopping strip with the Sherwin-Williams. It's called Children's Collections. They have some nice stuff and good prices. The ladies that worked there were so nice too.

We do consignment. I've actually enjoyed it, once I got over the sticker shock of 60/40. It's easy and we've made a good bit of money that way. It all goes into his college fund but it's fun when you check your account and it's up to $75.
