I know a 70-something Neva (Neva Blanche). Not my style but I also wouldn't think it was weird. I also like family names so I like that aspect and it sure beats any trendy, made up, or smoosh name.

"And can it be that in a world so full and busy, the loss of one weak creature makes a void in any heart, so wide and deep that nothing but the width and depth of vast eternity can fill it up." - Charles Dickens
I think it's adorable (pronounced NEE-vuh), especially as a nickname for Geneva. I think it could stand alone too, but you'll probably be correcting pronunciation/spelling a lot. This wouldn't bother me, but I know it does some people.
Sorry, I'm with these ladies. I agree with pps that it could be a nn for Geneva... but it would still sound like "neva gonna let you down" ... slang for never.
I had a former boss named Neva. I think with the horrible popularity of Neveah, purple might see it & immediately think of Neveah. Otherwise, I think it is a fine name.
Neva is common in the south where I am as part of a double name (pronounced NEE-vuh). I've always liked it.
One thing to consider is whether you have a large Spanish speaking population nearby. The verb "nevar" means to snow and "nieva" (pronounced a lot like Neva) means "it is snowing."
I was lurking, but I have to respond, because I love this name! The main river that runs through St. Petersburg, Russia is named the Neva River, and when DH and I were there, we had this wonderful tour guide who pronounced the name so beautifully with her accent, and it was NEE-vuh. I love it, and if it is a family name, that makes it even better.
Re: What do you think of Neva?
This.
Is it related to the latin word for 'snow'? Neve?
I like pp suggestion of a nn for Geneva.
When I looked up Neve on Nameberry, to make sure I had the meaning right, the name Neveah popped up as a "Do you mean" sort of thing. Yikes!
Well with that pronounciation, I think it's quite sweet. NMS but it's cute.
Agreed.

I also consider is a nn for Geneva. My grandmother and mother were both named Geneva. My Dad called my grandma Neva, and my mom Nev (NEE-va).
I'm not opposed to using as a stand alone name. I kind of like it.

My goofy little blog
I know a girl named Neva. She's nice. It's not a name I would ever use, but I don't dislike it. (She pronounces it Nee-vah.)
