Nesties that are back at work...

This is only my 2nd day back and although I know it gets easier or that "I'll get used to it" but it just seems so wrong that we are away from our DC's so much. I sit in SO much traffic on the way home that after I pick DD up from my mom/grandmother's we don't get home until 7 or so.

I feed her, bathe her, put her in her sleeper and she goes down around 10. I barely see her at all. :( I feel like she will not "know me" as a mom. Does that sound crazy?

  • My son gets home at 5:30 and is in bed by 6:30 some nights.  Yeah, it sucks.

  • not crazy at all.

My DS goes down at 8 so everyday Im RUSHING home to see him.  It does seem wrong but for me there is no other way.  Have to keep dinner on the table and a roof over our heads.

  • It sounds very normal.  I have already had nights where I see DS for like 30 minutes before he goes to bed.  Some nights he is so tired and cranky that all he does with me is fuss and cry until he goes to sleep.  I worry all the time that he will love his babysitter more than me since she gets to spend so much time with him.  But I don't think that's possible.  We always reconnect on the weekends and he definitely knows me.

  • I had/have the same feeling sometimes. But as he's gotten older just in the past couple weeks, I know he knows me recognizes me when I pick him up and I just make the time we have together more special. It also makes me not take him for granted.
  • Definitelt does not sound crazy. I know what you mean. It takes us an hour to get home and then its bath, bottle, and bed time. I promise it does get easier as the days pass, but, its always hard. I still have mornings when I cry after dropping her off and I have been back at work for 3 months. Your DC knows you are her mom. That will never change. GL to you!
  • your lucky! I get home at 6:30 and DD goes to bed at 7pm.  We've tried keeping her up, but she wants nothing to do with it, she wants to go to bed at 7pm.

I feel like my mom (who watches dd during the day) gets the most time with her, followed by my DH who picks her up at 4pm.  I get hardly any time at all Sad

  • I agree, I miss DS so much during the day it's not funny.  He's on my wallpaper on my computer and it's hard to look and not just want to leave and go and get him.

  • I'm in the same boat. I just try to make the time we do have together that much better.
