D.C. Area Babies

Pathetic, indeed!

Like mssaint, DS is also illin this week, and today is his worst day so far.  All he does (while he is awake) is cling to me, stare at me and moan.  Getting him to drink anything is a fight, and trying to get him to eat anything other than yogurt results in him gagging himself to the point of puking.  When we hold his hands away from his mouth (to stop him from gagging himself), he proceeds to scream and cry.  Also, I never knew something so small could produce so much snot.

I took him in to the pedi today since he's had a fever since Monday night.  The did a quick strep test (negative) and told me to "be more stubborn than he is about pushing the fluids."

I'm just glad he's sick this week while I'm home, versus next week when I will be on a wedding then business trip Saturday - Friday.

  • Poor little guy.  I know it is colder than cold outside, but have you tried posicles.  When DD is ill and won't take any fluids, she will eat popsicles.  Pedialyte makes some if you are worried about dehydration.  You can make them from fruit juice as well.  Don't judge, but we keep the sugar water ones around for these times (and for the occasional summer treat).

  • :(  I hope he and babysaint get better soon!  everyone misses them...

  • HJ (and others), do you think he would understand a popsicle at his age?  I hadn't thought of that.  He seems to tolerate cold diluted juice and milk.

ch ch - Y called me today to check in on C.  So sweet of her.

At this point, he was so miserable tonight, still running a fever, so DH is probably staying home with him again tomorrow.

  • If he doesn't understand popsicles, just go to straight up Pedialyte. We did that when H was sick because she was pretty much refusing bottles of formula and most food. I just put it in her sippy cup and let her carry it around. I switched back and forth between it and water so she didn't get used to having sweet stuff in her cup all the time.
