DS has been a pretty good sleeper since he was about 6 weeks old. For the last month, he has almost always slept from about 8pm-3:30/4am or later...with multiple times where he has slept until 6am without waking up to eat, He had a few random times where he would wake up a little earlier, but most of the time giving us an 8-10 hour first stretch..
Anyways, the last 3 nights he has gone in around 7:30/8pm and is waking up around 1:30/2am. Im not complaining as I know some babies dont even sleep that long, but for DS that has not been the norm.
Nothing has changed in his daily routine/feeding schedule. Im wondering if this is a growth spurt? Is this just what babies do..ha? Im just nervous that since he has woken up at 2am and Im nursing him that now he is going to continue that pattern because he is getting used to eating in the middle of the night. I dont want to have to start all over (Im clearly spoiled by the fact that he has been sleeping so long) Any suggestions? Did this happen to you and things went back to 'normal' again fairly quickly? I do try and give him the paci if he wajkes up , but he seems wide awake these past 3 nights, whereas before if he was heavily stirring he would fall back asleep after giving him the paci.
Thanks ladies....oh and I posted this on 0-3mo as well.
Re: 11 week old sttn and now waking up again....advice?
Pretty typical of babies to change things up a bit just when you are getting the hang of things. I don't think there is a cause to why it is happening, just him growing and adjusting. At 11 weeks old, you just have to go with the flow. I do not believe in schedules for babies this young.
A lot of times babies don't really grasp the difference between night and day. If DS woke in the middle of the night, I would keep the lights off - have no stimulation and just feed him and put him back down. I wouldn't even do a diaper change unless necessary so he would get that it was night time and people sleep at night.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

No offense, but your response scares me
Our beautiful son was born July 2008.
2010: 2 IVF's,1 FET = 2 BFN's, 1 c/p
Feb 2011-Unmedicated FET= BFP!! DS #2 born Oct 2011!!.
The only thing I'd look at is there's a 12 week growth spurt so he may be needing to eat more right now and may be legitimately hungry.
Outside of that I'd try not to encourage the night wakings (keep it quiet and boring and get him back down as quickly as possible) but there may be nothing you can do at this point.
My babies did this. They sttn from birth to 4 months and started waking once to eat from 4 months-7.5 months. Between 7 & 8 months they naturally dropped the 3am feed and now are sttn again.
My ped warned me about perpetuating the night feed pattern, but I tried to drop it and they screamed from 3a-on. It was just easier to feed them-I realize how lazy that sounds, but whatev. It worked out though and they dropped the feed by themselves. If he'll go back to sleep with a back rub and a paci I'd try that.
Same here. STTN is a thing of the past in this house.
Hate to scare you more but mine is still not STTN. Our pedi (just had baby herself) told us at 6 month visit that a baby at that age should be able to go 6 hours without eating. Previously she had requested we kept feeding at night due to our LO being little in size. We can start working on eliminating the night feeding now, but I won't because he is sick and that will just make everything that much more difficult. I hope your sleeping baby returns
