Should I switch DD to forward facing?

In her marathon she is still rear facing.  She is 38" and 31 lbs.  The weight limit on that seat is 33 lbs rear facing.  I think she has about 1-2" to go before the height limit (so her head is at least 1" below the shell).

She is forward facing in her roundabout and does not complain at all about switching back and forth from car to car.

  • if she's happy - leave her the way she is!  I switched DS when he stopped being happy (22 mos I think).

  • You said she's happy being the way she is, so why would you question it?

Just because she's so close to the limit and because it's getting hard to get her in and out lately.

She weighed 31 lbs at the doctor's office without shoes or a jacket.  She only wears a light jacket in the carseat, so I'd guess 31.5 lbs tops.

  • I'm sure she'll be more comfortable and it'll be easier for you, so go ahead!  And this qualifies as a "no need to ask for opinions" type issue.  YOu know what's right for your family, you'll only bring out the "rear facing till college" zealots by asking.

I'm mainly asking because while I'd rather keep her rfing, DH keeps asking when we should turn her.  Besides that, I was hoping this might start some sort of interesting debate to liven up the board.  No such luck.

  • Nah, leave her if she's happy.  I wish my DD had dealt with the rear-facing marathon and forward-facing roundabout, but she didn't.

  • My DH was the same way - for some reason he really wanted her FF, and kept asking until she finally outgrew her infant RF seat. He obsessed about that, but he couldn't care less about when she eats, sleeps, cries, etc.
