Sooooo you're telling me to stop being lazy and go to the library and get the book?? lol
Thanks ladies!
I know I should change my SN to "FeberIzAwesome" but seriously, I read that book and a lightbulb went off in my head. I'm sure not every kid has the same issues, but the sleep association issues he talked about were EXACTLY our problem, and doing Ferber was like a magic wand for us.
I have friends who just let their kids cry until they gave up and they never could figure out why CIO didn't work. We went in with a solid plan and it made me feel so much better about what we were doing. Listening to your baby cry SUCKS. Listening to it with a purpose and light at the end of the tunnel just felt different to me.

You've sold me.
Unfortunately our I'm on the waitlist (3rd in que) for the book. Hmmm Off to Amazon I go.

This exactly for me. We had done some CIO a couple months ago, just for naps because I wouldn't let him cry at night (I was always sure he was hungry) and it was so hard - I kept waffling about when was the right time to go back in and check.
The chapter about feeding at night was so helpful for me. It makes so much sense that if he gets fed, his body is kept more awake digesting that milk and he can't rest as easily. That kept happening, if he woke up around midnight and I had to feed him, I knew that was the start of a really bad night. I had planned on keeping an early morning feeding if he needed it, but ever since I cut out all feedings before 3 or 4 am, he has been sleeping from 7:30 to 7 am without a problem. Last night I didn't hear a peep from him all night, and he woke at 7 just as happy as a clam, didn't have any problem waiting to get dressed before being fed either - amazing. Might change my username to FerberIzAwesome2

Oh that's too bad, there were tons of copies at my library. Wish I could teleport one to you!

Oh that would be great!
Another suggestion- try a half-price book store, if you have one near you.

This! Even if you ultimately decide not to do any sort of CIO, Ferber's book is amazingly useful for helping to figure out what's going wrong with your nights.

Re: Ferber moms
ditto. I sent this to a couple of friends to show the basics, but the book is so helpful, I highly recommend it.
