When is your first ultrasound?

I was told today that I won't have one until I'm between 11-13 weeks, actually I was told that would be the first time I see my doctor... I was told this by the OB nurse. She schedules the OB appointments and has you fill out all of the forms etc.

With DS, I had an ultrasound at 8 wks, 13 wks, & 20 wks.

I am really surprised that they aren't trying to get me in earlier, they SAY they must go by my LMP, which would put me at 8.5 wks now when I am really only 5.5 wks...

My first u/s is at 6w1d.  It is very common to only have one u/s at 18-20wks.  Also, many women don't have their first appointment until around 10wks or so.

The dr told me I couldn't have one till I was 20 weeks!  I am very annoyed and want to have one sooner.  This is our first child and we are very excited to see him/her no matter what it looks like!

I'm sorry,  I misread your post.  If their is truly a potential 3wks discrepancy, than they should definitely be getting an u/s for dates.  3wks is far to wide a margin of error.  If you were my patient, I would bring you in for a quick u/s.

I had my first ultrasound at 7w, 1d (At the time I thought I was 7w, 5d).  My next appointment is this Thursday at 11w, 2d and I will have an ultrasound then too.

We have our dr. appt next friday which will put me at 8 3/7. I think with my first I was at about 9 weeks.

I know exactly when I ovulated, and told them but they want to go by my LMP which does give a discrepancy of 3 wks. I have a face to face meeting with the OB nurse next Wednesday, I'll make sure to fill her in on this as well.

Last pregnancy my first one was at 20 weeks. This time it's at 12 weeks. (different OB)

My first one was 3 weeks ago and I have a second one tomorrow! I can not wait!!

I have had two and am having another one on Thursday due to spotting, The first was from spotting and they only saw the sac because I was only 4w3d. They had my come back when I was 5w3d again just to see if there was a hb which there wasn't because it was way too early. The technician was surprised they had me in looking for a hb. All they saw was a yolk, a sac and a fetal pole. But because she didn't see one I have to go back Thursday and I'll be 6w5d so hopefully they'll see it.

If all that hadn't happened, I would have my first at my 8 week appointment.

I will get an u/s at every appt. I love my dr for this. My first appt is this Thurs and I can't wait! I will be between 8-10wks. Can't wait to find out how far along I am for sure!

I had one Sun. Based on LMP I am 5 wks and will go back sun for another one. They are hoping to see the HB this week. My 1st Beta was high so thats why the RE did the us. But if I was seeing my OB it would be next wk as well at 6wks.

I already had my first one at 5 weeks and 3 days.  I have another one scheduled for Thursday when I will be 6 weeks and 4 days.  I have been seeing an RE for the past six months so that's the reason for the early ultrasounds.

I had my first u/s at 8w2d. At the time I thought I was a little over 9 weeks. I'll have another one at 20 weeks.

This could be totally wrong but don't most doctors limit the # of u/s to limit exposing the baby to the u/s waves or something? That's what I thought but it could be to limit cost instead. Just curious.

My first pregnancy I had a u/s every appointment.  But this was because I wasn't gaining weight but loosing a big amount.  

This pregnancy, I have had one so far, when I was 8 weeks and I'm pretty sure I will have another one on Friday.

Mine will be on monday.  I will be 7 weeks.  So excited!

Mine will be on the 18th of January, I will be 10 weeks by then. That will actually be my first OBGYN visit. (I was confirmed pregnant by my regular doctor)

Probably not until 18-20 ish weeks. I don't even have my first appointment until feb 1

I won't be having one until round 20 weeks, and it sounds to me like that will be my only u/s.  I'm seeing my family doc and not going to an ob.  i actually havent heard the heartbeat yet, and i'm 11 weeks 2 days.  I'll be 13 weeks when i hear the heartbeat.

Mine was the morning at 10 weeks (also my first appointment).  It was great to see the little bean and get a due date.

I had a u/s around 5 weeks, that was to really date how far along I am and because I had some brown spotting.

my first ultrasound AND doctors appointment will be at 8 and a half weeks on January 26th. i can;t wait to see our little bean!

On Monday at which time I will be 7w1d (can't.stinkin.wait.)   I had a miscarriage with my 1st pregnancy so they wanted to get me in to keep an eye on things.

I had my first u/s at 4.5 weeks. Only because I have had a history of an ectopic and a miscarriage. I went in yesterday and I am 5.5 weeks, we saw the gest. sac and yolk sac. It was love at first sight!! I go back in a week and should see the fetal pole and maybe a heartbeat.

I am about 5ish weeks I believe, and my first ultrasound is this upcoming Monday so about 6weeks. My doctor wanted to do 30 days from my LMP. Which was about 2 weeks ago so.... I think it just depends on your history. Like my AF was so messed up prior to me going on BC. And even after stopped BC 4 months ago everything has been fine. I think it is just your doctors preference.
