Baby Names

Baby name help!!

We already have one boy named Parker Reed.  We found out we are team blue again, and naming this one has been such a challenge!!  Our other son's middle name is a family name, and we have been searching for another family name to use with this little boy.  So yesterday, I found out my great-grandfather's name was James Mason.  We would like to use the whole name, but our last name also starts with J, and it does not sound good with James.  Would you use Mason even though it is pretty popular right now, or would you use something else and use Mason as a middle name?  Here are some of our choices:

Last name is one syllable and begins with J.

Logan Mason

Mason Grant

Isaac Mason

TIA!

Re: Baby name help!!

  • I really like Mason Grant and I think Grant Mason would be an even better choice.  I love Grant (it a top choice for #3 for us).

If you went with Grant Mason than both of your boys would have a family mn.  We were in a similar situation.  Our DS is named Reed which is a family name for us too.  For DS#2 we wanted to use a family name and ended up choosing a name we loved for his fn and the family name for his mn.  I guess I didn't follow my own advise about giving each one a family name as a mn. hahah

  • I'm normally not big on Mason since it's become so popular; but I like the significance it has to you.  Of your choices, I think Mason Grant flows the best.

  • I like mason grant (I agree with pp that I would prefer grant as the fn). My second choice would be issac mason.
  • I really like Mason Grant.. second pick is Logan but I like Logan Grant
  • James Mason reminds me of the actor and Eddie Izzard's impressions of him (hysterical!) What about reversing them and using Mason James?

  • I actually like James Mason the best. Are you sure it sounds that bad with your last name? I mean, I'll take your word for it, but I keep thinking of James Joyce, which I think sounds fine. Anyway, my second choice would be Grant Mason.
