s/o Cleaning toys in the dishwasher

Dumb question, but - If you clean toys in the dishwasher, do you use dishwasher detergent?  Or just count on the hot water to get the job done?

For some reason it doesn't seem good to use the soap on things that they'll put their mounts on. . . which I realize is completely dumb considering it's used to clean plates and utensils!

Re: s/o Cleaning toys in the dishwasher

  • I don't clean toys in the dishwasher...but I do clean her bottles and his sippy cups all of which get plenty of soap in there...so I would imagine it's ok. They spend way more time with those in their mouths than any toy.

  • It's rinsed way better than when people use lysol wipes or that kind of stuff on toys.  I wouldn't trust plain hot water to get them very clean. You can always rinse them off in the sink as you are unloading them.  I put anything I can in the dishwasher and washing machine because it is well washed and well rinsed.

  • Yep-I use detergent and hot water. My dishwasher has a sanitizing cycle that runs last before they dry.
