So our 18 month old LO had his first accident he tripped and hit himself right on his cheek (below eye) on the fireplace. He has a little cut and we are thinking it will bruise/swell. We put neosporin on it and I want him to ice it but he won't let me keep the ice on the mark - any ideas? PLEASE?!

Re: how do i keep ice on my toddler's bruise?
When you ice their heads, I'm sorry, you have to pretty much hold them down and ice it while they scream.
I've had two terrible experiences with my twins, one had a bump on the back of the head (easier to deal with) and the other had a TERRIBLE knot on his forehead when he fell into the metal part of a loounge chair. OMG it seriously looked like a bugs bunny cartoon, this welt appeared that was about an inch off his head.
You hold them down/cradle them and ice it for a minute or two for 10 - 20 mins on and off. That's about it.
That said, I don't think I'd go through that for what you're decribing. A cheek bruise isn't a big deal imo...
GL!
We have the elmo boo boo buddy ice pack. DS thinks it is neat, and allows us to put it on for 1 second then wants to play with it. When I have tried regular ice, he freaks. There is really no good way, aside from holding them down. I think this is why we see so many kids with giant bruises on their heads/faces.
Good luck
