I had the most wonderful uncle named Cecil. He won a purple heart in the Korean war. We called him Cec. I like it, but others may find it old fashioned. Underused and classic, imo.

Wow, I've never heard this name on a guy. I've only ever seen it on girls. I don't dislike it so much on a boy.

I believe she is referring to "ce-cill", not "Cess-ille". Now I am confused. Ha. I think you are mistaking Cecil for Cecille. Cecil is a very old fashioned male name.

I don't really like it, but the only Cecil I know is that doctor who used his own sperm to impregnate a bunch of his patients.

I do have an aunt Cecilia, and I don't mind that since I've heard it all my life.

Cecil= boy's name

I had a student a few years back named Cecil. He went by CJ.

Reminds me of Cecil B. DeMille and Cecil Fielder. Not a bad name at all.

Definitely a boy's name. Cecilia/Cecily come from Cecil (which is generally pronounced Ceh-cil, not Cee-cil).

I've only known one guy named Cecil, a customer at work who was middle aged and came into the store every single day. We had a nickname for him, Cecil the Diesel, just because it rhymed.
