So I sent in the money and contract last week. I told STBX today that I had hired a lawyer and the paperwork is underway. Here is how the conversation went
STBX: "I thought we were going to share a lawyer"
Me: "My lawyer doesn't want to do th. Too much conflict of interest especially with Alex."
STBX: "So how bad are you going to screw me?"
Me: "Most of it is what we agreed to already. The only differences will be regarding Alex"
Great guy, huh? He is upset about me getting a lawyer and yet he is already dating the OW. I guess in his mind he is allowed to sneak around and break promises, but I'm not. Well too bad, I don't care what he thinks anymore.

Good for you - I'm sure it is a relief to know the ball is now rolling with the process.
Sounds like your STBXH thinks rules shouldn't apply to him. But, your conversation with him seemed to go pretty smoothly, which is a good thing!
Word for work mine had the same response "So how bad are you going to screw me?"
Strange though I kept trying to be nice until I realized his "concern" seemed to always go back tot he above sentence/question even though he masked it as just wanting his daughter more or making things "easier on everyone." A long time ago someone on this site wrote, nice gets you screwed, so so true!
Stay strong and it's amazing how many times you will see affirmations reminding you why you left all over again!
