Why wouldn't it be safe? I sleep with my cat and snuggle with my dogs.
The main issue with animals is not cleaning the kitty litter due to contaminated poop. My OB said to just stay away from all poop. If your animals are pretty clean, I wouldn't see an issue. I would wash your hands before eating.
I've been sleeping with my dog right next to me and we just had an ultrasound that showed our baby is perfect with a strong heart beat. I have never once read anything in a pregnancy book about animals other than changing the litter.
It's perfectly fine. I just try to keep my cats from putting their paws near my face since those do go in the litter box. Not easy, since Ava LOVES to pet my face. However, I have read that you can get a blood test to see if you are immune to toxoplasmosis. Apparently, a lot of people who have had cats their whole lives have been exposed at least once and some people build up immunities.
Now, what's really becoming a PITA is my huge dog who has decided that my foot space is his spot now. I have not been able to stretch out my legs for a week.

My dog slept in bed with me throughout my first pregnancy and even slept in bed with us when we were co-sleeping for the first 6 months of my DS's life. Haven't seen any bad reactions so far.

Oh shiiit, I'm screwed then.
How can people hate this board? There are so many gems!
Relax! You are pregnant, not immunosuppressed.
