My coworker stinks - vent

One of my coworkers that I rarely see has a BO problem. She stinks. We worked together today for the first time in months. I was handling my m/s alright, just some mild nausea, until she walked by. Everytime she got within 2 feet of me, I had to stare at the wall and concentrate on not throwing up. I just found out I am working with her again on Monday. I would love to buy her some deodorant or tell her there is a problem but don't I have the courage and don't want to hurt her feelings.

  • Put Vicks vapor rub under your nose before you begin work with her.

Someone else suggested this, I think it's brilliant!

  • My Dr. said not to put Vicks Vapor rub any where near your nose. Only on chest. This sucks... Man I would buy her some deodorant for sure.

Similar to this: one time during my internship, there was a guy speaking for a presentation. He was sitting right next to me, and his breath was TERRIBLE. It smelled like pure snot (the way I've always described this particular type of bad breath). I had no choice but take a "restroom break."  I had some lotion with tea tree oil, so I literally rubbed it all over inside my nostrils. Worked perfectly. If I didn't have that lotion, I would have had to leave the meeting permanently and just think of a reason for it, because I could NOT tolerate it.

Any idea if Vicks Vapo Baby would be okay? I've got that for when DS has colds.

  • I'd risk it with the Vicks.

I teach in a low-income school and a few of the kids don't always have running water. Yes, it is sad and, no, CPS will not remove them. Still, these poor kids STINK like nothing else. They are 5th grade so it's a combo of B.O. and just dirtiness, unwashed clothes, etc. Normally, I can handle it but it was triggering my m/s and I was having a hard time getting through class. I had to rearrange the seating chart to put them all in one area that I now just sort of avoid. I also put in a fresh Scentsy every day before that class comes in. Somehow, they are all clustered in one class just by a total fluke. I feel bad but would feel worse if they figured out I was running for the trashcan every time I came near them.

Sometimes teaching has it's perks :) I'm not around smelly coworkers much and I can sort of do something about the kids.

  • This is terrible I am sorry. I don't have any advice, but I have been having a really tough time at the gym.   I don't get why deodorant is such a foreign concept to some people.
