Success after IF

how old when they can hold their own bottle?

I am shocked Aida still "can't" (or won't) hold her own bottle.  my sister had kids do it MUCH younger and we had foster kids who did as well.

She can do everything she is "suppose" to be doing at her age, but she still doesn't hold her bottle.

Just wondering when this happened with your LO's?

Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever! • DD was BF but given occasional bottles she never would hold it, she did hold her sippy.

I wouldn't worry, lots of kids don't/won't hold them and are perfect. If she's on tract otherwise I'd say it's NBD.

  • Madilynn will only hold her bottle when she pulls it off the end table to chew on the nipple.  But when she is actually drinking, no way--she wants Mama to hold it for her!

Ditto this. Elizabeth only got bottles at daycare and I don't think she ever really held it on her own, even when she was 12 months old. I think she just preferred the snuggle time with the teachers :)

After 20 months, 3 Clomid cycles and 4 IUI cycles, IVF #1 with ICSI = BFP!

  • Jack never held his either - he wanted mama to always snuggle him while he was drinking from a bottle.  (He holds one now though... ha ha!)

  • DD only held hers for the babysitter, not for DH or me.  She was sneaky.  :)

  • Yes "can" and "will" are two totally different things in this area in our home.  Bennett never really held it.  He much preferred me to hold it while he twirled my hair with his one hand and touched my face with the other.  So, come on, I just held it. :)

  • JJ is certainly no where near holding his
  • G will hold hers at school, but not at home. Stinker.

  • DS never did, which was fine with me, because I liked holding his bottle while feeding him.
  • I never tried because it's not recommended. I know for sure though that Katen was never able to before switching to a sippy cup because daycare mentioned it, and Ana was EBF so I'm not sure about her.
