Last name is 3 syllables, starting with "M" and ending in an "ee" sound.
For a boy: Samuel Richard
I like it because I feel it's a strong, solid name and I love the idea of a little "Sam" running around ; ). But is it a little "blah" or too much with our 3 syllable last name?
For a girl: Alaina Joy
I know most people on this board prefer the spelling "Elena" but the only little girl I've met with this name, her parents pronounced it El-len-ah. So to avoid pronunciation problems (and just because I think it looks prettier) I would definitely be going with this spelling. I'm a little worried about trendiness though, do you think that's a legitimate concern with this name?
I'm still VERY open to suggestions as well, so if anyone has any for me please feel free : ).
Thanks ladies!!

I like Samuel. Richard sounds a bit outdated and boring for my personal style but I don't think there is anything wrong with the name or combo.
I really dislike that spelling "alaina" but I think the name is nice and the combo has a nice ring to it.
So, you like the pronunciation "el eh nuh" over "e lane uh"? Sounds like someone with a weird accent trying to say Eleanor.
Love Sam! But hating Ellenah. Sounds waaaaaay too made-up-trying-to-be-trendy.
No, no, no lol! I like the pronunciation A-lay-na which is why I prefer the spelling "Alaina" over "Elena". I was trying to say that I knew a little girl once who's parents named her Elena (spelled this way) and they pronounced it "El-len-ah" or "El-en-ah" I guess. I definitely DON'T like that spelling, that's just the way this family pronounced it.
Sorry if that was confusing...

I like both first names. the MNs are NMS.
You could also use Ilayna. Also good job on not using Alana - my friend did this and her daughter gets called A-lan-a a lot.
how are you pronouncing alaina?
i know an elena. she's nice.
