Success after IF

I have a really stupid question about moving...

Do I need to empty my dresser drawers into boxes before the movers get here, or can they move the whole thing without me having to do that?

See, I told you it was stupid question ;-)

  • No need to empty! Also, request wardrobe boxes for your closet items. Another random tip - I label all my boxes with a # and keep a list where I jot down the major things in the box. It takes a kittle extra time up front, but a huge time saver when unpacking it because you can immediately find what you are looking for.

  • No need to empty, unless you have breakable stuff.  That would be a total PITA!!

  • awesome...thanks!!!

  • I don't know, but will have answers tomorrow when we get quotes from the movers/packers! I am assuming no of you are not moving too far (we are moving like 5miles) when we moved to fla from MA everything had to be packed a certain way..and you couldn't bring certain plants accross state lines..
  • As long as nothing was breakable or valuable I put each drawer in a trash bag. We specifically used the carpenter trash bags because they were thicker and didn't break from the corners. We knotted then off as well incase one tipped and the contents fell out. On moving day it was POURING outside!!
  • Ask your movers. They are all different. We just moved 9 days ago and our movers wanted us to empty our dressers - even if it was just clothes...
  • We have moved 3 times since 2008 and used two different moving companies. One said everything had to be empty while the other said it was fine to leave stuff in them as long as it wasn't really heavy or breakable!
