Is this too sexy for my 5 yo?

Sorry, just trying to make fun of all the recent "too sexy for my 16 yo" spam posts recently.  Unfortunately, this is not spam, though.  MIL gave this dress to my 5 yo on Christmas Eve.  It is VERY short and tight.  It is made of a stretchy, rib knit fabric that clings to every contour of DD's body.  She looked like she should be singing backup for Robert Palmer.  Now MIL is pissed off because I didn't dress DD in this for church on Christmas.  And trust me, not even a cardigan could hide how form fitting it is.  Am I a huge frump or is this as inappropriate for a 5 yo as I think it is?

If you felt like DD shouldn't be wearing it to church, then its probably best that she didn't. Especially if its form fitting... I would let my child wear it, if it wasn't to church! But definitely with a sweater over it!!

It just wouldn't look right on DD, like at all.  So, she wouldn't wear it.  But if its as tight as you say it is, then my answer is yes.

it's hard to tell from the picture, but if you have to question it, you're probably right.  can you return it?

if it was A line and made out of velvet or cordory and you could wear a shirt under it, I would think it's cute. But, that doesn't sound like the case at all.  I wouldn't buy something for DD that clung to her either.

If it's short and form fitting for a five year old, then she needs a larger size, it's too small. If it hung like an A-line dress, I think it would be cute, but certaintly not short and tight. I'd just tell your MIL it was too small/tight.

material is polyester/spandex.  oy!  I don't see any reason for a 5 year old to wear a spandex dress
