DH's brother had gotten yet another girl pregnant. This makes baby mama number 3. She is due the day after me so we got asked all the same questions at Christmas. 

When names came up she says they had decided on Colton. (meh, NMS, but not horrible)  Then she says, k-o-l-t-y-n. Add this to her son from her other relationship Mason (spelled Masin)

Seriously?!? I could hardly keep a straight face.

Of course I do! That's why I had to give a little background info lol.

Ohhh, and DH comes from a family of four boys. All given J names. Jason,Jackson, Justin, Jamyson.

This particular brother is the only one to continue the ridiculous "j" naming. His previous 3 sons are - Jaemin, Jasper, Jarryn.

I don't either. I know people are trying to be unique, but to me it just makes them seem illiterate.

Oh, and naming all the kids names with the same first letter annoys me.

This was your golden opportunity to call out a bad-namer and you didn't take it. (shakes head in disappointment). I would have totally gone all passive aggressive with a comment like "oh, is he named after someone you know? is that why you are intentionally misspelling it?" Or maybe just a "poor kid" with an eye roll.

To respond to this as well as the "family drama" comment above. I think they are both immature and irresponsible.  I haven't said a word about my opinion of their "situation" and inplannon keeping my mouth shut about their crap name choices.  

If knew her or BIL, I would have at least made comment about the spelling. Maybe a question like "don't you think it will be annoying for him to always have to correct people when hey spell his name the correct way??"  BUT since they have been together since July (a month before she got pregnant) and DH can't stand his brother, we don't see them except for holidays.
