Can you test toys for lead??

Hi! I'm not a mom but I have a darling 9 month old nephew and this question came up at Christmas and I figured you all are experienced parents and might be able to help me.  So - my parents bought a house and when they were doing some renovations, found a huge box of painted wooden blocks that had obviously been stuck in the basement joists and forgotten about because the box looks pretty old.  My mom kept them thinking that they'd make great play toys for future grand kids and there are apparently enough of them in this box to make a block city.

Is there any way to have them tested for lead in the paint?  Obviously my Mom doesn't want my nephew to play with them if they are going to be bad for him but also doesn't want to get rid of a perfectly lovely set of building blocks if they are fine.

Thanks for any input you can give!
