Weekly Meal Planners - Help me!

So I'm just about ready to give up grocery shopping for a while. Too painful, physically, with this pregnancy. (pissy old ute, lol)  While I'm not huge on planning out a whole week of meals, I see what's on sale and kinda just come up with 2-5 ideas for the week, and gather what I need. (I have a pretty good clue what's in my jammed pantry, but there's always the "crap, I forgot coconut millk, how am I making fish curry NOW?"

I'm going to have my dad shop for a while, and switch to online order/delivery if needed. He loves to shop, and honestly, this would make him feel useful.

Do you have the lists and websites and such that help you put weeks (or months?) together? Like, bake a whole chicken sunday, use the leftovers for soup on thurs, cook veggies monday, quesidillas with them leftovers friday? That kind of stuff.

Basically, I'm looking to leech off of other mommas that have done the legwork, should you be so kind and generous. (happy to scratch your back in some way, too?)

OR----

give me any tips or ways YOU organize this all, and I'll make 'meself a handy dandy sheet or something. I do have a pretty good grocery shopping "master" list I can share organized by dept.

ETA - I'm mainly interested in dinner/supper stuff.

  • I know Aly 212 is huge into meal planning.. She is awesome at it and always has good yummy ideas.. She also doesnt stray from her meals like I do and end up just ordering take out! I last like 3 days w the meal planning and then bail cause I get lazy, tired, or both..

I will be watching this post though to get some ideas..

  • TTC#1 since Mar 2008. Serious MFI due to cancer. 3 cancelled IUI's, just about every test in the book. IVF#1 - BFP! Twin girls arrived 2/5/10 at 35w2d. Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • One of the Food Network stars does this type of thing for her shtick - Robin Miller. If you look her up on FN's website you would probably get lots of ideas. Also Rachael Ray has a new show, something about how to cook a week's worth of meals in a day. As annoying as she is, I find many of her recipes are very good (she is very good about incorporating fresh veg/produce in meals). As far as online ordering, often I will find the recipes I want to make for the week on my computer/online, open them all on separate tabs, then go to the online grocer and add ingredients to my cart based on the recipes. Add in basics like milk, eggs and bread (and when i was PG with twins whatever treat i wanted!) and you are all set :) sorry for the block of text, posting from my phone...

ETA - not sure why i didn't think about posting this last night! yesterday i made a ton of food from a large pack of ground beef (3.5 pounds) MIL brought us. i made meatballs (using 1.5 pounds of beef), chili (using 1 pound) and taco meat (the last pound). i froze the taco meat in a ziploc, froze a quart + 1 single serving (easy to grab for lunch when i'm back to work) of chili and froze half of the meatballs (makes an easy dinner). in total i was probably cooking for an hour and a half, so many meals out of an hour and a half of cooking!

  • My blog under "menu planning" has some weekly menu's. Some of them have grocery lists with them also.
