I know I am probably just being paranoid but figured id throw this out there.
My LO will be 3 weeks on thursday he has been EBF from day 1. He had been nursing every 1.5-2 hours and would nurse anywhere from 30 min to 1 hour. As of the last few days he will eat every 1.5-3 hours but only eats for maybe 15 min.
I am worried maybe this isn't a long enough time for him to get all the food he needs, or that maybe his decreased nursing time will slow down my supply and how do I know if he is fully emptying my breast?
He still has regular wet diapers but his BM have decreased....
Im a FTM so I am unsure and just want some reassurance!
Re: Getting enough
He's probably getting more efficient. Gosh, I don't remember either of my kids ever eating for more than 20-30 min. and I thought I heard somewhere that if they are on the breast longer than 30ish (guessing) min. that they are burning more calories than they are consuming. Have you seen kellymom.com? It was my BFing bible and super informative.
FWIW, at 3 weeks with both my kids they had major growth spurts and with DD that's when her colic began. Just a heads up about the growth spurts in case you feel like you don't have enough milk in the next couple days. https://kellymom.com/bf/normal/growth-spurt.html
