We go to a pediatrician associated with CHKD, we really like the doctors there and like the fact that they are associated with CHKD, however every single time we go it takes forever. Today we took our 10 month old DD in for a sick appointment. The appointment was at 1:45. We didn't go back until around 2:25 or so, didn't see the doctor until a little after 3. Does it take that long every where?
It doesn't matter which doctor we see, they are always really backed up. We usually try to make our well visits as early as possible to avoid this.
Re: how long is the wait at your pedi?
If we are there at the end of the day (like 3:30 or 4:00), then we often will have a wait. It's usually 15 minutes. Once in the room, and after the nurse has seen us, it's often up to 10 minutes. If it's more than that, they come and tell us.
ETA: A recent pedi visit had the nurse pull a portion of the paper from the roll and had both kids drawing on it to pass the time. Worked like a charm, and the pedi got to see some developmental milestones. I now bring crayons with me to the pedi office.
It depends. I usually schedule the well checks for right after lunch. Sick appts take longer. There have been times where I have waited as little as 15 min. and as long as an hour in the waiting room.
I guess it depends on how many sick kids are in the waiting room.
