Gerber has Lil Crunchies, they are like cheese puffs but melt better. Also yogurt melts. M liked 100% fruit from a can (mainly pears and peaches) and any kind of bread cut into little pieces.
ETA: Bananas. We would not survive without bananas.

How small did you cut them up?

I just let him have the Crunchies, the fruit I'd cut to chunks about the size of a dime. So the banana I'd slice about 1/2 and inch and cut that into 4, now I cut it in half.
you can kinda play around with the size too. If you think it's too big and choking may be an issue, make the piece smaller.

DD pretty much exclusively had finger foods starting around 8 months. We started with bananas, but then moved on to everything else. We went on a trip to DL in October and she had a lot of fruit, chicken, cheese, etc. She did really well with it, and we just kind of kept going. She has cheerios (way cheaper than puffs ) almost always available to her in one of those little snack cups that doesn't spill. We give her some of what we eat for dinner, and at daycare she has pancakes/waffles/fruit/etc for breakfast and then any number of things for lunch (pizza, chicken, mac and cheese, always a veggie). She's also learned how to suck purees out of the pouches, so we'll give her those on the go, or to go along with dinner so she always has a fruit or veggie with her meal.
I married a ginger.

Yogurt melts. Mum mums. And he loved pizza crusts to gnaw on. Those kept him entertained forever! He only recently started liking bananas.
