DH has a new hobby, sampling microbrews. I'm already thinking of getting him a gift card to Total Wine... but we've started collecting the bottle caps from what we've tried so far and I'm trying to think of a creative way to use them. Maybe magnets or used together as a tivet? Any other craft beer related DIY/EF gifts you can think of? We have several friends who are recovering alcoholics, so I want to be sensitive to that and avoid wearable items or things that would be difficult to put away if someone is coming over. (i.e. no huge reclaimed booze ad signs over the couch)
Aside from that, his other interests are playing the guitar, surfing, and international politics. We also love doing outdoor stuff but the flat terrain here doesn't give us many options. Any DIY/EF ideas there?
TIA!
Re: DIY Gift ideas for DH? (yeah, I know it's last minute)
I'm crocheting DH a wool scarf and hat. I made one for his brother and I think he was a little bit jealous. It was cute. He's also getting a lunch sack to make it easier to bring his lunches to work (currently just carries the individual bowls in his man bag) and a my-k-cup and some organic fair trade coffee grounds to replace our ridiculously wasteful disposable k-cups. Last year, I bought him a nice leather man bag.
If your DH likes outdoorsy stuff, what about a membership to a local gig? Ie. a state park pass, pass to a trail, etc. And whatever he'd need that he doesn't have to go on it. Running shoes? etc. There's also something like a reusable coffee cup for work or a nalgene type water bottle. Maybe some new strings for his guitar if you know what kind to get (?) or some pics if he uses them (I use to constantly loose mine). I also like classes and memberships when you know that they'll be well received. We're being conservative with our spending, but if we had more money I'd love to send DH to a cooking class. Actually I think Whole Foods has some beer and wine connoisseur type classes that weren't very expensive. Sur La Table usually has classes like this as well... Something specifically targeted at guys...
