Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Follow up post to Keep Still DD

So I posted last night about DD not being able to keep still. It was a really rough night. DH ended up sleeping on the couch, 1st time since we were married we slept apart :( Anyways, she kicked me and swung her arms all night long. I really don't know what is going on with her and I am tempted to call the pedi and see if there is anything we can do, but I don't want to be that mom that calls and asks how to get my baby to sleep.

I have a motherly instinct that something is just not right. Would you call the pedi?

  • Have you tried swaddling?

  • Yes, she absolutely hates it. I even tried it last night. She screams until I unwrap her or she breaks out of it. We have purchased about 3 or 4 different swaddle types. This is only a new thing she is doing I should add for those that didn't read my post last night. She has STTN since 3 weeks old until we started crib transition about a month ago. Its been hard, but I am determined to not give up. About a week ago she started with the wiggling and kicking to go to sleep and during sleep. Last night was the worse. I was hoping it was just a day or two of something, but it gets worse every night.

  • I don't find the wiggling weird at all.

My LO kicks her arms and legs and rolls her head pretty constantly and that's all I see at naptime, so who knows what else she does.

In the morning she's on the completely opposite side of the crib and all turned around completely backwards of where I laid her.

I actually always thought it was a pretty normal developmental thing. My pedi told me once babies learn their best skills while asleep.

Is she waking herself up or just moving? If she's waking up I don't know what to tell you, but just moving, I'd say it's normal.

  • My LO is pretty squirmmy too usually when she is waking up or hungry. I don't know how you feel about this but does she sleep on her belly? I have had a belly sleeper since 5 weeks and I am just thinking maybe she will cuddle and stay still?

At the same time my little one still squirms even on her belly but maybe if it is a novel thing for your LO it will work?

I agree with everything you are saying and that is how I thought in the beginning and last week. She is actually waking herself up. 2 nights ago I counted. It was 11 times I had to get up and go in her room and get her back to sleep. She is waking herself up and while she is kicking and wiggling she is making noises like she is miserable, irritable and restless. She naps wonderfully during the day and I know she isn't overtired. Someone mentioned last night it might be gas, but like I told her my LO used to have horrible gas until I switched a few things around so I know that isn't what it was, but I did give her gas drops just incase to rule that out. I'm just at a lost. I really haven't slept in almost a week. I am tired. LOL. Extra tired with the new LO on the way and I also worked 65 hours last week. I just feel so bad for her sometimes she just looks at me like "mommy fix it". sigh!

  • I am just realizing that this all started when I started giving her Zantac a week or so ago. Could this just be a coincidence or the culprit?
