Kind of freaking out - breast cancer???

For the last two weeks, I've had really bad diarrhea and migraines.  My husband's first question was, "Are you pregnant?"  Went to the doctor for a test, and I'm not.  Then he asked if it was stress....so I've been doing some relaxing, pampering things, and it hasn't gone away.

Well, last night, I found a lump in my left breast.  I had my husband see what he thought.  He said there's definitely a lump.  I have an appointment this afternoon, and I'm freaking out.  Is there anyway the migraines and diarrhea are at all related to the lump?

Re: Kind of freaking out - breast cancer???

  • I don't know if there is a correlation, but I do know that most lumps are not cancer.  I've had one, and it is kind of scary, but odds are it is nothing.

Get it checked out and no googling while you wait for the results.

promised myself I'd retire when I turned gold, and yet here I am

  • I'm not a medical person- so please seek a doctor, maybe start with your gyno and go from there.

But I have lumps in my breast, one was removed back in 2003 because it was getting bigger and hurt. It was just a cyst (however it couldn't be asperated) the surgery to remove it was outpatient. I am suppose to keep an eye on my other ones nad if they start hurting or growing they will have to be removed. I also cannot have mammagrams, I am to only get ultrasounds because the mammagram machine coudl burst the cysts.

ok, I wanted to give you that background so you know where I am coming from.

headaches/migraines and diarrhea aren't typical of BC (treatment thereof, possible- chemo) My Aunt had BC and it wasn't caught until stage 4 (the worst) and she lived 4 years as it spread, and it was the treatment of chemo that gave her migraines and other ailments

Not saying its not related, because again, I am not a dr./nurse/anything medical.

    Get to a doctor!

Lots of hugs and thoughts and prayers for you!

  • I don't have any advice, but I am kinda going through the same thing right now.  I found a lump in my breast and had my first appt last week.  I don't get to have the mammogram/ultrasound until Jan 3rd and I'm freaking out too!

I don't have any other symptoms and I don't think your symptoms would be connected to the lump unless maybe you have some kind of infection (but I am no medical prof.).

Hope you get some answers soon.  GL.

  • I am a breast cancer survivor and I can tell you that I had zero symptoms beside a lump. I would guess that the diarrhea and migraines are totally unrelated.

Definitely get your lump checked out and find a doctor that will take you seriously and not dismiss your concern just because you are young. The majority of lumps turn out to be nothing, so try not to stress too much.

  • I am also a BC survivor and had no symptoms besides the lump I found.  80% of breast lumps are benign......the odds are in your favor.  Please post an update after you have seen the dr.  Good luck.
