we're having some family over on christmas eve right after church. I'd like to have some "nice" appetizers ready when we get back. so far I'm thinking cheese/crackers and shrimp cocktail. Any other easy ideas?
do you think these could be made ahead?

Re: easy make ahead appetizers?
I make a crabby muffin ....
Thomas English muffin, 1 stick margarine, 1 jar old english cheese spread, 1 tsp. dill, 1 can crabmeat, 1 tablespoon mayo.
Combine all ingredients and spread on half an english muffin. I then lay them on a cookie sheet and freeze them. Once they are frozen I transfer them to a zip lock bag.
When you get home from church, pop them in a 400 degree oven for 20-25 minutes...watch at the end. Let them cool for a few minutes and cut in quarters.
I don't know if that will help, it would still be 30 minutes before you had them, but would wouldn't have to do anything since they would be in the oven. These are always a hit.
Ham and cream cheese pin-wheels.
Also in a crockpot you could do swedish meatballs, keep it on low and they will be hot and ready when you get back.

love this stuff! 2 pans went at a Christmas party last night. Easily made the day before.
