So this girl I know has been going on for months about what to name her unborn child. She had been going on and on about how it was going to be a great name, something sentimental and they thought long and hard on this. So they had this big name reveal party last night, slapped it on fb and the final result is.....

 

Azealya

Geracie

Rose

Azealya becuase it's mom's favorite flower

Geracie to combine aunts Gertrude and Francine. But want it pronounced like Gracie.

Rose because it's mom's second favorite flower.

FFS. The first name is not my style at all but acceptable..if spelled right.

I don't know what to say to the first middle name much less the second middle name that gives her kid two floral names.

I get picking a name based on faves. I have a Ruby afterall because red is my fave color and Ruby is my gram's fave gem and she was born in July too.

At least I managed to spell Ruby correctly.

This was the same girl that when I said my kid's name was Ruby Colleen came back with...I think Colleen is spelled wrong. And that has to be a YOUNEEk name...therefore I don't like it.

LOL.

The only positive in this is that her entire fb feed is confused, astounded and commenting as a result.

I wouldn't mind Azalea, and I don't have a problem with multiple middle names, but... yima!

I actually like Azalea as a fun and funky first name, but with a Y? Belch. And Geracie? Um, in no way, shape, or form, will anyone ever pronounce that as Gracie. I said it out loud as 'jerr-ace-ee'. Where is Francine in that name?

If Azalea is her favorite flower why would you change the spelling, now it says A-zeal-ya. Its totally my guilty pleasure name and is already so unique that I totally don't understand the need to make it u-neek. And I'm with PP, what's with including your first and second flower is one name? I really wish I would read the responses on facebook lol

Geracie looks like Geranium which would make it three flower names! Unless you're a botanist that is completely unacceptable, IMO. And a botanist would never butcher Azalea like that!

One of my sorority sisters named her baby Azaleah.  I think Azalea is different and actually pretty neat, but why the superfluous "h" just hanging out on the end?  I'll never know.

You totally need to tell her you're pretty sure she spelled Azalea wrong since she made this comment to you.  And then when she tells you that she wanted to make it Youneek, you need to respond back with, well, I don't like it.

Gracine would be a nicer smoosh, even though it kind of cuts Gertrude.  I would think if you combined Gertrude and Francine you could get something more like Trudine.  That sounds much better than what they came up with.
