It also doesn't cost a fortune. I got the brown sugar at Walmart for $1.68, the butter was on sale for $2.50 and eggs are pretty cheap. I had all of the spices.

One batch makes 6 half pint jars, filled to within 1/2 inch of the top. I made little cards with the recipe and serving instructions and tied them to the jar.

 

 

Hot Buttered Rum

 

1 lb melted butter

2 lb brown sugar

3 large eggs

1 tsp each cinnamon, allspice and cloves

? tsp nutmeg

 

Pour melted butter over brown sugar

and spices and mix.

Add eggs and beat well.

To serve:

1 heaping tbsp to 6 oz boiling water. Rum to taste. Also tastes great without the rum or with ? tsp rum extract if you don?t drink.
