This post from Kelle Hampton cracked me up this morning. I'm grateful that we made up our own rule about touching Neil (that an adult could move him to a safe place if need be, or that Ava could pick him up if he fell down). Hee hee!
Hahaha, that's hilarious! I'm not sure that I could've come up with calling fake Santa at the fake North Pole to keep the magic. Good thing y'all already have your own rules
Shoot the site is blocked from work. I'll have to read it later. I just remember my 7 yr old niece just about fell to pieces when their elf fell and my nephew picked it up to put it back. Not sure how my sister explained that one.

Ha! We reinterpreted the book. The elf simply asks that the CHILD do not touch him. In my house, grown-ups can touch the elf to prop him back up if he falls over, etc. This is because children have magic of their own just like elves so if they touch him, the magic is so powerful it goes up in smoke. Grown-ups can touch him b/c they have no magic of their own
So funny. I have to make stuff up on-the-fly all.the.time about the elf, santa, tooth-fairy, etc...H just looks at me like I have lost my marbles.

That's great! About 3 days after we got ours our cat, Ethel got him off the Christmas tree somehow (that darn cat ; ) and was tossing him around the living room. It was the most traumatic thing to ever happen to Garrison.
Luckily, we also watched the movie where Chippy (is that his name?) got touched and just had to spend the night in the hospital in the North Pole to get his magic back. But to be safe, we always put him up somewhere higher than those darn cats can get him, hopefully.
