3rd Trimester

Those who aleady have children (pregnancy symptoms)

My first pregnancy with my daughter was pretty rough, morning sickness as soon as I lifted my head in the morning, lots of barfing, lasted through most of the pregnancy, etc.

This pregnancy I still have m/s (though it is more in the afternoon/evening/night, and more significant nausea more so than actual barfing).I still get m/s in the morning off and on--so its not like it is completely different in terms of m/s from the last pregnancy.

Because the m/s is different, everyone keeps telling me that it must be a boy. I'm just interested in whether other people who already have a child have insight on this? Did anyone have one gender and then have different m/s symptoms but have another one of the same gender? Or vice versa...

Obviously I know nothing is for sure, I'm just interested.

Re: Those who aleady have children (pregnancy symptoms)

  • Each pregnancy is different and it doesn't really tell much about the sex.  I had a girl with my first and this one is also a girl.  My morning sickness was different with both and I also am carrying this baby very low while my second was very high.

  • My pregnancies were totally different, and I have one of each. I had three days of m/s with DS, felt great the whole time, but had high blood pressure at the end. With DD, I had m/s from 10 weeks to 22 weeks, felt like poo (but that might be due to chasing a toddler lol) but my blood pressure stayed low. GL!

  • I didn't have morning sickness with DD, had a little morning sickness here and there with DS and then no morning sickness again this time and its a girl.

  • My first pregnancy was rough.  Morning sickness the whole way through (I was on medication), every other symptom under the sun.  I was miserable.

This time, I feel great!  No symptoms.

Both of my kids are boys.

  • Not quite 3rd tri yet but I wanted to answer since I'm on baby #4 :) With My 2 girls I was as sick as a dog for most of my pregnancy. WIth my boy I only had 2 weeks of morning sickness. I was able to eat more but was more tired. This baby I won't be finding out the sex until birth day but I can say that my pregnancy symptoms are more like that of being preggo with a boy.

THis is just my experience and  I agree that every pregnancy can be different. I would in fact though be very surprised if this one came out to be a little girl. :)

  • Usually it doesn't say anything about the sex... but in my family it does.

My mom had 3 boys and 2 girls. Nausea with the girls, not with the boys.

My sister had 2 girls and 1 boy. Nausea with the girls, not with the boys.

I have a girl and I am expecting a boy. Nausea with the girl, not with the boy.

  • I have two girls, and this baby is also a girl. All three pregnancies were very different from each other. #1, no nausea or sickness at all. #2, a bit of nausea but not bad. #3, terrible, unrelenting nausea and all-day sickness for the first 3.5 months.

  • First one I had really bad morning sickness til about 16 weeks.  This one the morning was very manageable.  They are both boys.

  • Aside from differences in my heartburn, my two pregnancies have been almost identical.  I had a girl last time and I'm having a boy this time.
  • When I was pregnant with my son, the morning sickness started later in the pregnancy, but was more intense.  A lot more vomiting and food aversions and it lasted until I was about 20 weeks.  The food aversions lingered until I gave birth.

With this pregnancy, I'm having a girl.  The morning sickness started earlier and wasn't quite as bad.  More just feeling queasy and only occasional vomiting.  It ended around 20 weeks again, but I didn't have so many aversions this time.

  • I've been pregnant 3 times: I had hyperemesis (severe nausea, vomiting and weight loss) with both my pregnancies where I was having a BOY. I had very mild, short-lived m/s when I was preg with DD.

  • Both of my pregnancies I have felt great. The only thing that is different is that I would get occasional nausea with DD. This time around I haven't had any at all.

  • I am/was very fortunate in that I never had morning sickness. In both pregnancies I was nauseous early on, and very smell-sensitive, but never threw up.

My second PG was so similar to my first that I pretty much convinced myself that I was having another boy, but nope, this one is a girl!

So I have to conclude that sex of the baby makes no difference for my body, it's just how I "do" pregnancy.

  • I carried this one much higher in the beginning. That's about the only difference. I was sick a couple weeks sooner, but it went away around the same time with both, and it was all-day-sickness with both. I was more tired with this one, but I have a toddler to keep up with this time, so I think it's more that. I guess another difference is also that I was incredibly emotional with this one...like stupid stuff would make me cry, especially at the beginning.

  • My m/s got worse/lasted longer with each pregnancy. I have girl, boy, girl. If anything, it is age for me...or my body is telling me not to be a Duggar mom.

  • My m/s was the same for all 9mo with my first 2 and I had a girl and a boy.  I think m/s has nothing to do with gender.

There is research that indicates that it can be worse with girls, because you have more of the hormone that causes m/s when you are having a girl. You can probably google it. There is science behind it.

  • Every pregnancy is different.

However, while I felt constantly nauseated for the first several weeks with both my pregnancies, I've never actually thrown up, which I guess means I had mild morning sickness. Both pregnancies were/are boys.

  • With DS, I had m/s until 28 weeks but rarely puked. I was just nauseous. With this one (girl), I have been puking since 7 weeks and it still hasn't let up despite taking Zofran daily. So, while I had m/s with both, they were completely different types of m/s. I was also MUCH more tired this pregnancy than with DS, but otherwise have felt better (less pain) then when I was pregnant with DS. So, they really are pretty opposite for me.
